Introverts and Extraverts: Missed opportunities for empathy and resilience

Introverts and Extraverts: Missed opportunities for empathy and resilience

While some of us are more introverted, others are more extraverted. And these terms describe one of the oldest and most prolific models of human personality. However, many critiques to this idea suggest it is too one-dimensional and binary.

There has been something of a ‘quiet revolution’ that has questioned whether our contemporary culture fails to recognise or reward more introverted behaviours, such as being quiet rather than gregarious, of waiting before acting, or reflecting instead of doing. This also has implications for our mental health.

Join us to consider differing ideas and perspectives about introversion and extraversion, and to question what practical value such concepts have to our lives and what we can learn for our mental health.
