The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness week is loneliness.

Many of us experience loneliness at one time or another, but it’s often overlooked or dismissed. And this is an issue. Not only is loneliness associated with an increased risk in depression, anxiety and even cardio-vascular disease, but it can be exacerbated in people who already struggle with their mental health. However, warm human connections, conviviality and camaraderie have the power to make us feel good and even live longer. And, most importantly, they are qualities that everyone can share.
