Mindfulness for Mental Health Awareness Week

Mindfulness for Mental Health Awareness Week

Come and try mindfulness online with us

Jami has partnered with HaMakom, a charity offering practices and teachings of Jewish mindfulness for the wellbeing of the community. These sessions offer you a taste of mindfulness that are designed as a gentle introduction to the practice as well as offering a different theme each week related to Jewish tradition and culture.

The theme of this year’s mental health awareness week is anxiety, and the sessions will offer a taster of how mindfulness can help us manage anxieties and stress through helping us to be more present in the here and now.

What does mindfulness do?

It teaches us to be more present in the here and now rather than being caught up in distracting thoughts

How can it benefit us?

It can help us manage anxieties and stress

Who can attend?

Anyone who uses Jami services are welcome. We advise you to check in with us if you have any concerns at education@jamiuk.org

Example of some of the themes:

Sensing
Jewish culture emphasises savouring what we have around us. In an age of sensory overload, can we better develop our connection with sight, smell, touch and hearing to enrich our lives?

Exploring
Jewish people have been pioneers in exploring the cosmos, the world, society and the psyche. Can we become similarly inspired to engage in our own mindful explorations?

Allowing
Together we will work with a sense of allowing us to be just who we are as unique individuals – right here and right now – just as we are, just as the world is, without feeling the need to be anywhere else or anyone else.

Online bookings will close 5 hours before the event. There may still be availability – please email education@jamiuk.org

We hope to continue to offer our mindfulness sessions for free, but if you would like to donate, please complete the form below.
