Mitkadem Centre for Wellbeing, Redbridge

The Mitkadem Centre for Wellbeing is based in Gants Hill Redbridge. The team comprises of Mental Health Social Worker, OT, Wellbeing Recovery Workers and volunteers to offer a multidisplinary service.

This Wellbeing Service is offered to anyone from the Jewish Community aged 18- and upwards.

Our healthy Mind Healthy Body ethos Offers a pathway to health and wellbeing and our approach is client centred, practical and holistic.  We work to people’s personal strengths and needs. This approach is reflected in the programme of activities offered in the centre and by the workshops and services offered in the community to support Recovery.

Individuals choose how they engage with our service, whether it’s just for social contact and to link into the community via our community café or to access our healthy living programme. This range of choice is reflected in the following activities.

  • Working outdoors on our allotment, joining in the weekly walking group or attending the weekly exercise or yoga sessions.
  • Weekly interactive wellbeing magazine, this focuses on education, learning about healthy diet and fitness the goal to gain a better understanding to support wellbeing..
  • Talking Therapies: Weekly Women’s space, 1 to 1 Anxiety and Stress management. Social Work support via the centre or in the community.
  •  Life skills: we offer support and training on budgeting, independent living skills and signpost to other organisations eg: benefits, statuary services.

Access to Recovery is at the core of our work and we also use Recovery star groups, Education via JREC educational courses and seminars such as understanding depression workshop, . Recovery Star course.

We have a team of volunteers who have set up project to support re: hospital visiting, telephone befriending and we are the process of developing a befriending service in the community which will offer access to wider Jewish Community.
