Befriending helps people to take the first steps towards meeting new people, rediscovering old hobbies and developing new interests and connections.

With the support of a befriender people are able to make use of social, cultural and educational facilities within their local community.

This valuable partnership provides an opportunity to develop social skills, self-esteem and creates a sense of connection.

The befriending scheme offers Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training and regular learning and development evenings for our volunteers.

Jami’s befriending coordinator matches referrals to the scheme with a volunteer, makes introductions, manages communication between the befriender and befriendee and provides ongoing support. The befriending relationship is reviewed after 1 year.

If you would like to become a volunteer befriender please call us on 020 8458 2223.
